Pottinger
A Company that Combines Tradition with Progress
Since the company was formed in 1871, Pottinger has become one of the most highly regarded agricultural technology manufacturers in the world. At the time when the company was formed the forage-cutting machine was introduced to make the work of the farm easier. The second generation produced a wide range of agricultural appliances: mills, presses, forage harvesters, mowers and hay loaders.

- The theme of the 1960s was "Pottinger brings you the green range". The company specialised in grassland mechanisation and produced high-volumes of the Pottinger hay rakes, a mileston in slope mechanisation.
- 1963 sees the start of the ground-breaking development of the silage trailer. As a result, Pottinger became the biggest silage trailer manufacturer in the world.
- In 1975, Pottinger acquires the Bavarian Plough Factory in Landsberg am Lech and continually expands the soil preparation range.
- 1991 saw handover to the fourth generation.: Heinze and Klaus Potttinger. The large range of hay machines is rounded of with powerful forage harvesting machines for large acreages.
- In 1997 Pottinger continues its dynamic development with new semi-mounted ploughs, round bale presses and wrapping machines.

- At the start of the new millennium, cost advantages and increased efficiency introduced a reversal of the trend in silage technology. In the "battle of the systems" against the self-propelled forage harvester, the silage trailer gains prominence world-wide.
- By taking over the RABE seed-drill factory in Bernburg in 2001, Pottinger is able to expand it's soil preperation range with mechanical, pneumatic and mulch sowing machines. Pottinger makes sustainable cultivation of the soil it's theme and in 2004 expands it's agricultural technology with TERRASEM mulch seed drill and the TERRADISC series of disc harrows.
- 2005 was the best trading year in history of the company. A record turnover of 155.4 million Euro is achieved. Already, 79% of the total turnover is achived in the export markets.
